Measuring your siding

Instructions for Measuring Siding for mounts and Installation.

Which mount you get is based on the siding size you specify. Not all the mounts will look the same but will be similar. Most will have a leg on them but some sizes do not (usually the 5" and above size mounts are wedges and dont have a leg).

Details on the siding sizes and the mounts for each siding size are in the listing of the doorbell.

You do NOT specify which mount you want based on the doorbell size. The doorbell size is irrelevant as the front of the mount fits that specific doorbell.      The back of the mount is what goes against your siding and that is what you are measuring.

Siding Types:

In stock store mounts ONLY fit Standard Traditional Clapboard style sidings. They do not fit DUTCH LAP style siding. Contact me using the Request Custom Order Form Above if you have Dutch Lap style siding.

 

Measuring your Siding:

Standard Traditional Siding

To measure your siding you measure a single panel from the bottom lip of the top panel to the bottom lip of the next panel. On the panel you want your doorbell. It’s important to not only measure the height of panel but also the projection(how much one panel overlaps the other) when ordering to confirm fitment. For best fitment for standard vinyl Siding your measurement should be 1/2 inch. For board metal mounts it should be 3/8 projection.

Dutch Lap Style siding

If when you are measuring your siding to choose a size and you notice there is a "hump" in your tape measure and it does not lay flat on the siding. Then you most likely have Dutch Lap and will need to contact me using messaging, or if you are on my doorbellmounts.com siding request custom order form.

None of these mounts offered in the online store fit Dutch Lap style siding.

If you are not sure if you have Dutch Lap style siding. send me a picture of your siding. i can tell by looking at a picture.
